Water Wings
Summer at the pool, the sea, ocean or lake can be great fun for swimmers, but what if you or your child cannot swim? Safety and protection from drowning are important, but so is summer fun. Does this inability to swim mean a summer watching others have fun? Water wings are the perfect solution to let you enjoy the water and not just watch from afar.
Water wings are called many names, including floaties, arm bands, arm floats and swim floats. Arm floats were developed more than forty years ago, after the near death of the inventor’s child. These devices have helped countless children and adults learn a valuable life skill, swimming.
When a child slips their arms through these inflatable round devices and enter the water, the wings keep the wearer floating above the water. Many a child has squealed with delight as the child floats happily in the water. The fear of water has been forgotten as the wings build a sense of “I can do that.” Imagine a toddler happily splashing with wings trying to grab a pool toy. Very young children have learned to “swim” harmoniously with wings. Although they may be too young to learn structured strokes, little ones have learned valuable skills to prevent drowning. Water armbands make water time, fun time.
People may wonder about the safety features of these water armbands. These special bands are designed using heavy vinyl and must meet safety standards. Puncture resistant, water bands should not pop during use. Wings are designed with backup systems to keep from deflating when caps are accidentally left off.
Floats are designed to be flat on one side to allow the wearer to kick and float in the water. Children learning to swim need freedom to move without having an obstacle to hold them back. Floats provide confidence to a child learning to tread water. One caution must be expressed about water wings and small children. These floaties on children require adult supervision. No one should have a false sense of safety with children using floating devices. Water wings are not life jackets. Too many children die each year from drowning and water wings are not enough protection.
Children will always be attracted to water. Why not provide children with the tools to learn swimming? Whether the child is two or fifty-two, water wings will help develop self-confidence to glide through water securely.
